Old Frame routines was originated by Chen Changxing, the 14th generation successor of the Chen style taijiquan at Chenjiagou. He developed Old Frame routines based on Chen Wangting's taijiquan 5th routine, Cannon Hammer 1st routine, & 108 forms long fist 1st routine. 1st routine mixed temper force with grace. Movements are extended & graceful with agile & steady footwork. Un-aslant natural body form and inner strength commending the whole body with twine force as core & waist movement as primary movment. Each movement connects with next smoothly. If one part acts, the whole body will act Vice versa. The movements are natural & smooth. Smoothly for force, relax, loosen, flip & quiver together continuously.

New Frame Cannon Hammer = New Frame 2rd routine. The movements in this routine are comparatively complicated than other routines, focusing on the applications of 4 corner hands including, pick, obstruct, elbow, & lean and applications of 4 assisting hands including, hold up, stroke, squeeze, & press. Hardness contains softness. strive for firm & hardness. stamp to exerting force. leap up, jump, spring, shake to train elasticity. In appearance,  it shows fast & strong jump with slowness, softness, calm, & unrushed methods of exerting force requiring guiding the body by hand cooperating with flexiable footwork. Focusing on hardness to integrating hardness with softness to command internal forces. If internal body is motionless, external would not exert force. A part move, all parts move.
New Frame 1st routine (83 postures): It belongs to traditional Old Frame routines series by Chen Changxin, descender of Chen Wangting. It was created by the 17th forefathers master Chen FaKe. It has the characteristics of board & big postures, deep & steady. The posture mainly applied 4 basic hand method of "warding off, rolling back, pressing, & pushing" and the 4 basic hand methods of "sizing, blocking, elbowing, & pushing" as assistance. One movement drives the movement of each part of the body; Once one movement stops, parts of the body stop. Diversed hand methods. unique waist & chest movements.

This program covered the essences & theories of master Chen XiaoWang's 50 years of experiences in Chen style taijiquan. Explained the enigma that was never explained by predecessor in detail. Chen Style Taiji Sword is a short weapon routine. It was created by Chen Wangting, who inhabited Chenjiagou village, Wenxian county, Henan province, during late Ming dynasty & early Qing dynasty. It has been widely spread in Chenjiagou village in recent hundreds of years. As one of the oldest weapon routine, there are 49 postures. It's reasonablely layout, closely linked. It contained snap, hang, thrust upward, hack, prick, push & neutralize etc. Combines with the body work & footwork of Taijiquan, thus processing changes of sudden hardness & softness, sudden disappearing & appearing. Close adherence, interfollow, & prompt movement. Spiral strength & force are applied on all movements. Steady, agile, suaveness, natural, & intergration of hardness & softness are the characteristic of this form.

Chen Style Taiji Broadsword is a fierce & forceful routine. Each posture is lifelike. It focused on movement of waving the broadsword round the head. Additionaly, hack, chop, hitch, provoke, roll, close thrust, block, cut, raise overhead, & push 13 different broadsword skills associated with footwork, steps, leg skills, turning over, & Jumping techniques of Chen Style taijiquan. It showed the close structure, hardness with softness, powerful, relax, agile & slowness through out entire routine. This short weapon could be used as long weapon, like a fierce tiger, and the force could cut through Mt.Hua.
Chen Style Taiji Spear also named "Mix Pear Flower Spear with White Ape Stick", a long weapon. It combined the characteristics of Staff & Spear. In actual combat applications, it can realize the spear thrust in a line as well as has the effect of "stick beats a large extent". It emphasized "Chan Si" (twist & attach). It consisted of thrust, block, tilt, sweep, point, raise, chop, stir, support, twist, coil, thrust, beat & other Mix Pear Flower Spear unique skills. Its unpredicatable movements confused opponents. Its forces like thunderclap & swimming dragon. It is a long weapon and could be used as short weapon.
